Enigma Update Release

I've just updated the Enigma application for Android. There are now more than 300 puzzles with more on the way. In addition to the new puzzles, there were a couple of small modifications made to improve the game. See the release notes for more information.

This was my first update release for any of my Android applications. I admit to being a little anxious about the process but it was pretty smooth. (Famous last words, no doubt.)

For those of you that are playing this game, please grab the update and enjoy the new puzzles.

Developing with Android

I am really enjoying my development experiences with Android. I haven't set any new records or enthralled millions with the applications that I've put together, but I have learned a lot - which is what I was going for in the first place. As such, I thought I'd periodically share what I've learned. This may end up being little more than privileged glimpses into the obvious, but what else is the internet for anyway?

Don't Fight the GUI

I have programmed on many platforms and operating systems over the years, such as:

Enigma Release

I've just released a new application for the Android(tm) platform named Enigma. Enigma is a code-breaking game where you try to decrypt a block of text that has been encrypted using a "substitution cipher" - yes, we are talking about cryptograms. This was an interesting program to put together and I was surprised that one hadn't already been done on the Android platform - or at least not one that I saw.

Colossal Cave Adventure Help

I've just added a number of new walkthroughs and other hints to help you get past those sticky spots. Use the forums to let me know if there are areas that are giving you a hard time and I'll try to provide some more help.

Drupal - gotta love it.

I have been making a lot of changes to the website these days. Most of them have been behind the scenes - not really visible to the average user, but all have been remarkably easy to do. With Drupal, the hardest thing I've had to do is to figure out what I want to do.

If you see anything that isn't working, just drop me a line.

AN Hosting - My New Web Host

I have been growing more and more dissatisfied with my hosting plan/company lately. I had a plan that allowed me to do a lot of programming (ISAPI dlls, ASP, etc.) and testing - working with a variety of databases, etc. All good things and I paid a premium for this. At the time, it provided a great platform for testing outside of my development machines. A "real world" platform if you will.

However, I have not been using those features lately and I have been drowning in spam. So I needed to do something, and fast.....
