I have been growing more and more dissatisfied with my hosting plan/company lately. I had a plan that allowed me to do a lot of programming (ISAPI dlls, ASP, etc.) and testing - working with a variety of databases, etc. All good things and I paid a premium for this. At the time, it provided a great platform for testing outside of my development machines. A "real world" platform if you will.
However, I have not been using those features lately and I have been drowning in spam. So I needed to do something, and fast.....
Inertia is an amazing thing - so much for "and fast....". I sat for a long time "needing to do something" and always managed to delay it, talking myself out of making the change, rationalizing my current choice, consoling myself with "what if I need to do something like that soon?". Finally, while sitting at my desk trying to figure out a way to cut some of my expenses (it's been a tight year), I noticed my web hosting cost and finally bit the bullet.
After a lot of research, I chose AN Hosting. Great plan, great cost and they supported Drupal which I was interested in trying. If you had seen my previous web sites, you would understand that a graphic artist, I am not.
My experience with them has been fantastic. I've had a number of stupid questions which they were more than happy to answer. I've had real people answer the phone when I've called and they have been pleasant and helpful every time.
This was also my first experience with Drupal. I was a little nervous about the whole thing - new host, new software, irrational fears of bringing down the whole internet, what are we having for dinner tonight... you know, the usual.
That experience couldn't have been less painful. AN Hosting is geared up for this and the process went smoother than I could possibly have imagined or hoped for.
Also - my spam has dropped dramatically. I can now tell for sure that no one is sending me any real mail rather than fearing that I have deleted it while trying to cull 100's of "less than desirable" communications a day.
As of now, I can enthusiastically recommend AN Hosting to anyone. Check out their plans and that of their parent company MidPhase using the links you can find on this page.
